Healthy Point Acupuncture
Our goal is to get you back to the healthy point, and help you stay there.
IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT SCHEDULING, LOCATION, AND PRICING CHANGES:
Beginning the week of September 25, 2023, we will be transitioning to a Saturdays-only schedule.
We recognize that this is likely an inconvenience for some, but for others may mean that we're no longer an option at all. Please let us know if you need assistance finding another acupuncturist who can meet your needs, and we'll be happy to get you in touch with another care provider. As of right now, the plan is for us to be available on Saturdays from 9 am to 8 pm. Depending on patient needs, these hours may shift as we get adjusted to the new schedule. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!
Beginning Saturday, October 21, 2023, we will be operating out of the offices of Five Elephants Acupuncture at 1436 Bardstown Road.
We recognize that this is also likely an inconvenience for some, but for others may also mean that we're no longer an option at all. Please let us know if you need assistance finding another acupuncturist who can meet your needs closer to home, and we'll be happy to help you locate another care provider.
Five Elephants is located on Bardstown Road between Eastern Parkway and Edenside Ave on the west side of the road, in the little white building between St. James Catholic Church and Murphy's Camera. The building is shared, but Five Elephants has its own dedicated entrance along the side of the building behind the teal door. There's a handful of steps up to the door, and a couple of steps up the front walk from Bardstown. Parking is available on the street on both Bardstown Road as well as Edenside Avenue, and there's a small parking lot behind the building that can be accessed by turning from Bardstown onto Edenside, then taking the first left into the alley. Go past St. James, and you'll find the lot behind a utility pole and a handful of trash cans. There's a walkway between the church and the office from the lot. Parking can be exciting if events are happening nearby, so we'll try to be mindful of when those events are and plan accordingly.
Beginning Saturday, October 21, 2023, we will be transitioning from private one-on-one sessions to a community-style setting, and prices be adjusted accordingly.
In order to best use the space we'll be sharing with Five Elephants, we'll be moving from private rooms to a community style approach. All of the treatment tables are separated by curtains, so you still absolutely have your privacy, but depending on how many other people are scheduled at the time, might hear some other goings on at the same time. There's both white noise and music playing in each of the treatment rooms to help reduce the potential for distraction, and you're absolutely welcome to bring ear plugs or ear buds if that makes it easier for you to relax.
We'll also be adjusting to a sliding scale payment structure. The idea here is to try to make acupuncture as affordable as possible for folks in different financial situations. Treatments will be offered for $40 to $85, whatever you feel is appropriate for your budget needs. This will be regardless of treatment modalities provided, for the most part. We will still be offering acupuncture, cupping, guasha, and moxibustion. Please note: Reflexology will still be scheduled in private sessions at the current pricing - $65 for a half hour and $85 for a full hour.
We understand that this is a lot of change in a very short amount of time (it is for us too!) and are so appreciative of your support and understanding while everyone settles in.
Due to office closure in response to the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic, our services have been updated to include only what can be provided through telemedicine or drop-off delivery services.
While acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, reflexology, and our other regular services are impossible to provide safely while social distancing is such an important safety measure, it doesn't mean we aren't still able to help!
As soon as the operational restrictions currently in place to protect our community have been lifted by the CDC, Governor's Office, and Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, our normal treatment offerings will once again become available.
Telemedicine Consultation
**TELEMEDICINE SESSIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR EXISTING PATIENTS LIVING IN KENTUCKY**
Much of what we as practitioners do is just provide a safe and open space to discuss the things going on in your life, and offer guidance from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective on things that you can do to relieve some of the stress.
Our donation-based Telemedicine Consultation is a flexible, remote way to get that interaction. Whether it's nutritional guidance based on the staples you have on hand, answering questions about how your body and mind are reacting to what's going on, tips for helping you sleep better using things you already have around the house, guided meditations, breathing exercises, or just listening as you vent your frustrations and concerns, we're here for you, however we can be.
Please make sure we have a good phone number to contact you for a voice session, and a good email address to send the login information for a video chat session. Video chat is hosted through doxy.me, a HIPAA compliant hosting service. We will email you the particulars for logging in for your video session.
Please be sure that you've scheduled your Telemedicine Consultation through our Square or Facebook booking tool prior to purchase (your appointment date and time is a required field in order to be able to complete your donation). Whether it's one dollar or a hundred dollars, please donate what you can without putting yourself in jeopardy.
Private Online Qi Gong Session
**TELEMEDICINE SESSIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR EXISTING PATIENTS LIVING IN KENTUCKY**
Qi Gong is a wonderful practice that incorporates intentional breathing and slow, easy movements to help your body operate at its best, and can be done without in-person physical intervention from a practitioner. Consider it the Traditional Chinese Medicine equivalent of physical therapy. Your donation will provide you with a friendly and unhurried greeting to check in, followed by a half-hour of personalized instruction to keep your lungs strong, your body moving, and your mind calm. Whether it's just breath work, just movement, or working on combining the two aspects into a seamless practice, we'll meet you where you are on the day, and support you however we can from afar. Shoes are optional, honesty is required, and smiles will be welcomed, even if they take some work.
Please make sure we have a good email address to send the login information for a video chat session. Video chat is hosted through doxy.me, a HIPAA compliant hosting service. We will email you the particulars for logging in for your video session. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and breathe freely.
Please be sure that you've scheduled your Private Online Qi Gong session through our Square or Facebook booking tool prior to purchase (your appointment date and time is a required field in order to be able to complete your donation). Whether it's one dollar or a hundred dollars, please only donate what you can afford to without putting yourself in jeopardy.
Self Moxa Kits
**THIS ITEM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR EXISTING PATIENTS. ORDERS FOR NEW PATIENTS WILL BE CANCELLED**
Our Self Moxa Kit is a seven-day supply of everything you need to give yourself an energetic boosting, overall wellness promoting moxibustion treatment in the comfort of your own home (well... we recommend performing your treatments outside with better ventilation and a greater opportunity to get some Vitamin D...). Included is seven pre-prepared slices of fresh ginger, 7 moxa bundles, and a stick of incense to help you safely light your moxa bundle. We'll also include a set of instructions and safety precautions (either printed and included in your delivery, or emailed prior to delivery) to make sure you have the best experience in self-care at home, Traditional Chinese Medicine style.
Please allow 24 hours for preparation, assembly, and delivery. If you need a lighter or matches, please let us know in your special instructions, and we'll try to include that in your kit as well. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before ordering.
Please note: Moxa Kits to be obtained during the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic will be delivered to your front door, without personal contact. We will advise you via text or email once your moxa kit has been delivered.
We also have gift certificates available for online purchase. Use this as a way to make a donation to help keep us operating during this difficult time, and then use it later once things calm down and we're able to reopen our office to the public. Specific denominations are offered, as well as customizable amounts to fit your wants and needs.
This is a difficult time for all small businesses in the U.S. right now, and we're no different. We're working super hard to keep providing you with the absolute best in Traditional Chinese Medicine care that we can while we observe social distancing in an effort to keep transmission of this virus as low as possible and protect as many lives as we can. We understand that this has put a financial, emotional, and physical strain on everyone, and we do so very much appreciate your continued support, financial or otherwise. We also understand that money may be tight, and we're always willing to accept non-monetary donations as well, if you feel compelled to give but can't afford to give from the wallet. Please reach out to us if you'd like to arrange a trade in exchange for one of our services.

A quick note about telemedicine and HIPAA:
The Department of Health and Human Services has recommended discretion to its Office for Civil Rights to waive penalties for potential HIPAA violations in an effort to allow providers to use available technology like FaceTime and Skype for telehealth services. Read about it here. This is an effort to encourage providers to be able to provide services to their patients quickly, without having to worry about strict compliance by existing apps if used in good faith. We have transitioned our telehealth services to doxy.me, which is a HIPAA compliant host for video chat sessions. We also use Google Voice for phone calls, which is HIPAA compliant from our understanding. By scheduling these telehealth sessions, you are giving consent to communicate in these ways. If you have any concerns at all, please reach out to us.
